Ossian Sweet House
tour-ossian.png

This historic house is where the Black Ossian Sweet family was terrorized in 1925 by their White neighbors immediately after moving in--while police stood by watching. During the riot, a White man was killed by shots fired from the house. After two trials, Dr. Sweet and his brother were acquitted of murder. Violent resistance to any attempt to integrate White neigbhorhoods was common in Detroit at that time.
